Michael Maes

Professor Primo Proietti (born 1960), male, graduated (1984) in Agricultural sciences with full marks and honours in the University of Perugia (Italy). In 1988 he received PhD graduation on “Productivity of cultivated plants” in the University of Perugia. During 1990-2002 he was researcher in the Department of Arboriculture and Plant Protection of Perugia. Since 2002 has been associate professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, University of Perugia (Italy). In 2013 he obtained eligibility to become full professor.

He has over 280 (J. - 154 + Conf. – 76 + Chaps. or Books 30 + Patent 1 + other 24) publications mainly on fruit and tree eco-physiology, efficiency of tree cultural systems, agronomic use of olive by-products and CO2 sequestration in tree groves. His highest citation for a research paper is 106 and total citation are 555, h factor is 14 (Scopus data).

He has been conferred scientific awards such as "ISWA Beacon Conference" – “GE.SE.N.U.” and “Piaggio” for a the thesis, “Start Cup Umbria” for innovation, “Best innovative idea - White Information”, Special mention of the jury for planning solutions “LINFAˢ - by the “Fondazione Italiana Accenture e Fondazione Collegio delle Università Milanesi”, “SOI - Best paper by young researcher”.

He has been responsible for many International and National research projects: FP7, PRIN, MIPAAF, POR, PSR, etc.

He has been referee for national and international research projects: UKF-Croatian Science Foundation (CSF), PRIN, R&D project – Portugal, VQR, "FutureInResearch" MIUR. He is referee of Many international scientific Journals such as “Annals of Botany”, “Australian Journal of Agricultural Research", “Crop & Pasture Science”, “Energies”, “Environmental and Experimental Botany”, “Journal of Experimental Botany”, “Land Degradation and Development”, “New Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science", “Photosynthetica", “Plant Biosystems”, “Scientia Horticulturae”, etc.

He is actively associated with Scientific Societies such as Accademia dei Georgofili, Accademia Nazionale dell’Olivo e dell’Olio, ISHS, SOI (Since 2002 delegate for the Umbria Region), etc..

Prof. Dr. Primo Proietti is member of several Committees for PhD in the University of Perugia and has been the tutor for many PhD Italian students and also for a PhD in the University of Sfax (Tunisia). He is the coordinator teacher of the Erasmus Program between its Department and France. He has been responsible for numerous research grants (also for Australia).

Since 1990 he has been Lecturer in several courses (Tree cultivation, Nursery techniques, Fruit-growing, Timber tree cultivation, Ornamental tree cultivation, Oliveculture, etc.) in the University of Perugia and University of Malta (3 years). He has been teacher in many professional seminars and training courses for Italian and foreign people.

Prof. Primo Proietti has been coordinator the agronomic area of the International Master "Olive Growing and Olive Oil Technology" organized by the University of Perugia under the auspices of the International Olive Oil Council.

He has been member of the Board and Joint Committee of its Department.

He was chairman and member of the organizer/scientific Committee of several national and international Conferences.

He is sommelier and member of a Panel for olive oil and table olive sensorial evaluation.
